L.MCCULLAH
RICHMOND, VA / designer
After graduating from high school, I moved to Richmond to immerse myself in a more creative environment and pursue graphic design. I’ve been building my skills through online courses while connecting with local creatives, working on event and marketing projects, and developing my own voice as a designer.
MACHINE
Machine is a self-initiated project exploring consumer culture as a self-perpetuating system. It examines how desire is engineered—keeping us in cycles of dissatisfaction, overconsumption, and continuous labor to sustain the very system that drives it.
This project is my first attempt at expressing a point of view through graphic design. I used what I’ve been learning on my own, along with guidance from my dad, to experiment with typography, composition, and visual systems.
posters / Flyers
This collection of show posters and event flyers includes both conceptual work and real designs created for local nightlife events. Some pieces began with imagined briefs to explore creative direction, typography, and visual storytelling, while others were created to promote live shows, DJs, and community gatherings. Together, they reflect my interest in capturing atmosphere, building visual identity, and creating bold, engaging designs for specific audiences.
sketches
These sketches show how I work through ideas on paper. Through detailed stippling and layered shading, I explore form, texture, and depth. They’re less about polish and more about practice — building the skills that shape the rest of my work.
